Nutting Lake early 1900's
|
| Located on both sides of the Middlesex Turnpike, southeast of Billerica Center. During the 1920's through the 1950's Nuttings Lake was a haven for summer vacationers. Many people spent their summers in cottages around the lake. Nuttings Lake Park is described as " The Bretton Woods of Massachusetts" by Suburbanland Co. The picture above shows the skating rink and some of the many boats people used on the lake. The picture below depicts Nuttings Lake today. The growth of trees along the Turnpike prevents seeing the privately owned business which now occupies the former skating rink. The Turnpike, as you can see is also paved. There is still some boating and there is a public beach on the lake. Ice fishing is still very popular. |
